As part of USO Experience, The Outdoor Adventure Team (OAT) will feature a Half Marathon Rowing competition during the week of 6/7-6/11. This competition will allow Active-Duty, Dependents and local civilians (Civilians: At Three Ships CrossFit ONLY on 6/10 or 6/11) to compete for time on a Concept2 or SkiErg Rower and post their times and videos for others to see. OAT will celebrate and have trophies/giveaways for the top 3 of each age group athletic category.

NOTE: A Photo, Video, Media and Liability release waiver MUST be signed for all participants. Parents and Legal Guardians must sign for minor interested in participating.

The Outdoor Adventure Team (OAT) is hosting a stand up paddle boarding session for local military and their family members (Kids 6 and Up unless on a board with a parent). Children are welcome to participate with a parent or guardian. In case of inclement weather, we will host another activity.

Join the Outdoor Adventure Team for a Sunrise Yoga session to promote mindfulness and wellness. Open to Active-Duty military AND Locals. Children are welcome to join! 100 spaces available at Red Wing Park in Virginia Beach. Come help the USO bring together the military and civilian communities in Hampton Roads for a series of events that focus on Wellness for all!

The Outdoor Adventure Team (OAT) and Trails of Purpose (TOP) are hosting a program focused on stress relief and healthy mindsets. This program will provide horse safety briefings, mindfulness exercises, and both ground based and mounted horse exercises. The program will conclude with a debriefing session to process the events of the day. Catch some fresh air, and good vibes at the farm! The exact address of LZ Grace will be emailed out later but it is within the Pungo footprint of Virginia Beach. Lunch and snacks will be provided!

#USOEXPERIENCE

The USO Outdoor Adventure Team and Three Ships CrossFit are hosting Battle of the Brave! Different military branches will compete in an athletic competition for the winning title and the chance to compete in the Hampton Roads Throwdown on August 15th at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex and Regional Training Center inside the Stadium, and in front of numerous Military and Civilian dignitaries. The competition will include an Adaptive (Individual Competitors),Non-Adaptive Individuals in "RX" Heats and "Scaled" (See Below) for both Men and Women, and all kinds of exciting activities for the kids (Agility Inflatables, functional fitness Clinics and additional activities. This competition is open to Active Duty, National Guard AND Spouses of the Military community. This is NOT a Male only competition!! More info forthcoming!

When registering for this competition please verify that you are enrolled in the proper category broken out by standards below. Based on the category you pick (RX Athletes or Scaled Athletes) everyone must be able to perform ALL of the following based on their category of enrollment:

We will feature walking / hiking, cycling, and water segments for this race. Ideally planned and offered for either brand new beginners or seasoned Adventure Racers. Join us at beautiful York River State Park and meet Nationally ranked adventure race team, "This Ability Racing". They will be on site providing pointers, advice and sharing many of their stories of adventure racing. Come young and come old, this is sure to be a blast! Bring bicycles of you have them or come without them. There will be plenty of options for you and the family:

We're kicking off the July Wellness Challenge with a 5K race for local Military and Civilian families (Kid Friendly) on July 3rd, 2021! Located at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex and Regional Training Center, the USO Outdoor Adventure Team is offering a trail run 5K for fun in an attempt to create unity amongst the military and civilian communities in Hampton Roads. More info will be forthcoming following your RSVP. Giveaways and awards will be given out to our top racers! Help us bring together the civilian and military communities here in Coastal Virginia!
